Konpa.info is run by me, Fedor Hüneke (Germany). Contact.
I started this website to share the information and knowledge I had collected over the years with other lovers of compas. Currently I have listed more than 3100 albums, 19700 tracks and 2050 covers.
Please note: Konpa.info does not sell or trade any records.
Background
| I discovered Compas via the Dutch radio station VPRO back in 1988. From that
moment I got caught on Compas Music. I taped a few brilliant 70's tracks from
Les Shleu Shleu, Tabou Combo and Les Gypsies on K7. I had to get an overview
on what was available on the market. The French import-dealer Sonodisc seemed
to have interesting stuff, but nearly none owned or sold compas records over
here - hard times! Years later I met Helmut Otto, a German guy who had compiled a list of historic compas records. He used information from different American record selling catalogues and his own vinyl collection. I added Sonodisc information and anything else I found while researching, including hints from Gage Averill. Meanwhile I found more and more great old Haitian compas records and CD reissues to listen to. At present I prefer the new long playing live compas sound to the old stuff. Kite konpa mache... I hope you found some details you haven't already known. |
This list isn't complete. Research is still proceeding... Feel free to report any mistakes. Send me your additions. Especially the date of production. Everything is welcome - thank you!
Thanks for your patience.
Special thanks to...
Helmut Otto, Udo Bode, Frantz Salomon, Gilly, Adjae, Paul-Richard, Karl...
